About

Dr. Rachel Mottet

MS, PhD | Equine Nutritionist

Over the past decade, I’ve served the equine community as an equine nutrition professional.

I’ve directly worked with hundreds of horse farms, created individualized feeding programs for well over 5,000 horses, and have presented educational seminars to thousands of horse owners all over the country.

I am lucky to have found my true passion as an educator and Equine Nutritionist.

My start

I joined the equestrian community at the age of 5 after my mom put me on the back of our family Quarter Horse, Traveler. I was instantly hooked and my love for horses has been a driving force in my personal and professional choices for the past 30 years.

I have been riding and competing for many years and enjoy 3-day eventing and foxhunting. In 2020 I switched gears a bit and ended up buying a hunter.

My equestrian passion has also guided me through 12 years of university education where I’ve earned a B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in the areas of Animal Science and Nutrition.

What is Legacy Equine Nutrition?

Legacy Equine Nutrition is a business I created to fulfill my professional aspiration of incorporating my professional, academic, and practical nutrition expertise to help horse owners help their horses.

I also just plain love nutrition and horse people. And I can safely say, this career is my perfect fit.

Our programs

The programs I develop incorporate every nutritional tool possible to help my clients look, feel and perform their absolute best. I do this because I firmly believe that when your horse feels his or her best, their unique qualities, athletic potential, and individual personality can come out fully. Optimal nutrition is paramount to achieving this and I am here to help you with this!

Your horse deserves a happy, healthy, long life and legacy. My educational and on-farm tools will help your horse achieve this goal!
